Kolbe (pronounced Colby) came home at nine weeks of age. An Australian Shepherd from quality show lineage, she was always regal and dignified. I soon nicknamed her “Queen Kolbe.” Although she was an AKC blue ribbon winner for show, her main claim to fame was as a magnificent mother. In her life she bore two litters, each consisting of exactly tw puppies, all of whom were female merles. She raised them well and they, in turn, made other families greatly happy. She had a wonderful singing voice and could dance up a storm. (Another less dignified nickname she carried was Wigglebutt.) Kolbe shamelessly used her feminine wiles to charm all who knew her: no one could bat her eyes more seductively than Kolbe. And, of course, we will always remember the delightful wiggling of that pretty butt. I know when I cross over to the other side, she will be there to greet me with a song and along with our other canine companion Jazz,we will continue our journey together. –Devin O’Branagan
